Since it’s almost Thanksgiving, what better time to talk about how much I’m looking forward to Christmas. ^_^ Not because of the presents (I’m only getting money, anyway, to buy my Nook). Not because of the dinner. Not because of the happiness that comes when everybody opens their presents. Not because my cat acts like she’s dying when we put discarded wrapping on her. No I, like all good Whovians, am looking forward to the Doctor Who Christmas special. I haven’t watched the trailer yet, because I’m waiting for my mom to watch it with me, but from the pictures I’ve seen in my numerous Doctor Who group thingies on Facebook, it looks really good. I mean reeeeeeeally good. Like all Doctor Who anything is. ^_^
I just felt like sharing this with you guys, because I’m not sure how many of you know just how big of a fangirl I am of the show. I’ll have been watching it for two years come January, and I’ve seen all the episodes from the reboot so far (but not the extended versions in some cases, because BBCAmerica cuts them down to size when they show the reruns).
The reason I’m so amped right now about Doctor Who is because I got my ThinkGeek package in the mail today. Along with my zombie skin, my caffeinated chocolate chip cookie, and my Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock mug, I got my happy, shiny new Doctor Who t-shirt. It has a picture of the Tardis on it, and it says “You never forget your first Doctor.” David Tennant, in either The End Of Time part 2, or The Shakespeare Code (I can’t remember which one I watched all the way through first). *squee!* My mom’s first episode was Planet Of The Dead. I love that we share this with each other. New episodes are our time, our geeky time. I’m an uber-geek with a non-geek mom, but at least she watches Doctor Who with me, right? And actually enjoys it, too. ^_^
So yeah, really looking forward to the Christmas special. I even found a countdown clock to it, in case you were curious. This was the first countdown clock I found, but it’s perfect!

I need to get my bwahfrand caught up in episodes before I can watch the Christmas special. :/ What kind of Nook are you getting? I’ve got a Nook Color, and I kind of wish it were one of the other Nooks. You know, one of the ones that are actual E-Readers rather than tablet-lites.
I’m looking at the 16gb Nook Tablet. I don’t really need the HD one that just came out, and the 16gb Tablet costs $20 less. That’s tax, pretty much. I think… Or shipping and handling, depending on where/how I buy it. And yes, get him caught up ASAP! The Christmas special has evil snowmen! And New!Companion girl.
I am.. probably the only person in the world who’s never watched a single episode of Dr Who despite finding David Tennant sexy in the überway. I just can’t find the motivation/interest. Is it REALLY as good as they say it is..?
It’s as good as they say, yes, I think because it has that addictive quality that you can’t help but glue yourself to. It has nothing but amazing writers (it’s even had an episode written by Neil Gaiman, with another one on the way, if you know who he is), amazing actors, amazing everything. But that could just be the fangirl in me gushing. I’ll try to see if I can describe it without drooling: It has action and adventure, humor, great story lines, it’s very engaging, and the characters are so real that you end up feeling like you know them in real life. And you can’t help but love the Doctor himself. As David Tennant, or Matt Smith (look him up, he’s a mega-cutie as well), or any of the others (Smith’s the eleventh guy to play him so far). It has a huge fanbase for a reason. You oughta try it, at least a few episodes. Start with season one of the reboot (look for Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper), or season two if you must start with David Tennant (he was my first Doctor).
