So, I think I decided: I’m going to change gaming groups at the beginning of the year. I want a little more gaming in my gaming, you know? With my current group, love them as much as I do, they only spend about 10% of the time that they’re there gaming. The rest is spent joking, dicking around, and acting stupid. I still want to be friends with them all, but I don’t really want to game with them any more. Also, I kinda hate the me that I am when I’m around them, as I’ve mentioned before. I want to be a person again, not a sexual object. So, I’m going to start with my friend Tony’s group. My friends Scott and Alex are in that group, too, so that’ll be nice to hang with them again. The only problem is that I won’t get to see Rich much, but I’m going to ask him if he wants to start hanging pre-gaming. That’d be nice, as well. I need more socialization that doesn’t involve gaming. I need to get out and breathe the other people air, you know? Maybe I should start going to Dayton every so often, on non-Fridays? See my other friends, even. I miss Aaron and Tyra like crazy. I also desperately miss my Nikkichan. Sad face.
Why yes, I do have lots of friends outside of the computer. Most of them are in Dayton, though, so I’m a bit hosed there.
In other news, I finished the Christmas cards I’m sending out this year last night. They’re all ready to send out tomorrow. I put little Christmas stickers on the backs of the envelopes. They’re so adorable. I think I need to buy some more, though. I’m going to take part in a Christmas card exchange on Lavish, and I’m down to my last few cards. Thank the gods I can get ten for a buck at Family Dollar. That’s where I got the others. ^_^ I love getting good stuff for cheap. It’s the thrift shop/yard sale/sale/clearance fangirl in me.
I grew up going to yard sales and Goodwill and such. We were on welfare then, so we almost had to. But even though I haven’t been on welfare since I was in 7th grade, I still shop cheap. I especially love Goodwill’s book section. That’s where I got most of my current library of too many books from. ^_^
Speaking of shopping, I dropped a huge chunk of change yesterday online shopping. I got some stuff from DeepDiscount.com (the latest Chuck Palahniuk book, the entire Dead Like Me series, and a present for my step-dad), The Greater Good Network Store (a fuck ton of stuff including socks and jewelry and such, and a few presents for my mom), and ThinkGeek (a cute little kitty bank and a present for my brother). Almost $200 between those three stores. Yeouch. Damn shoploholic tendencies. It’s the borderline in me. It’s part of one of the criteria (uncontrolled spending). Gotta try and save some money. I still need to get my Nook Tablet. Do want. Very much so.
I don’t know if I’m going to be going to OhayoCon in January. I enjoy the con, and I can definitely afford it (if I don’t spend all my money on stupid first). It’s just that I haven’t really wanted much anime in the last few years. I watched a couple episodes of I, My, Me, Strawberry Eggs a few months back, and the first episode of Gurren Lagenn with Slone way long ago (dubbed; I do NOT suggest it), and a little bit of the first episode of Sgt. Frog a few months back, but that’s pretty much been it. I haven’t watched anything newish, I haven’t watched a whole bunch of episodes, I wouldn’t recognize most of the cosplays if I did go. There’s the Doctor Who stuff, true, but I don’t know if that’s enough of a reason to go. The suck part is that I was gonna go with Ben and Slone, and we were all going to get a hotel room Saturday night. Ugh! I don’t know what to do!
Now, to end everything with a cute anecdote. My cat Bindi loves getting pets, obviously. She was winding around my legs earlier while I was on the computer. Well, I guess she wasn’t getting enough attention, because she jumped up onto my keyboard shelf! She’s never done that before. It was so cute, and only a little inconvenient. Heh heh heh. Such a cute, rotten kitty. The bestest.
I MISS YOU TOO. OMG. You should come down sometime and we can go thriftin’. I live in the middle of the thrift district of Dayton/Kettering. We’ve got three around the corner and several down the street. Seriously. 6 or 7 awesome thrift stores within 5 minutes of my house. I bought my couches there, and Cookie pieced together a killer Tenth Doctor costume from them.
Also, Cookie and I are thinking of going to Ohayocon. We’re not hugely into anime anymore, either (though I did just rewatch Utena and started watching Kaleido Star–I think you’d probably like Kaleido Star!), but we like cons, and I hope they’re still doing Midnight Madness because Cookie would love some Midnight Madness. Anyway, if that sweetens the pot for ya, we can all hang out at Ohayocon
On the thrifting front: that would be SO MUCH WIN! The only problem is, it’ll hafta wait til after the holidays. I’ve already spent beyond my means for the month, and it’s only the 2nd. ^_^ Okay, not really (yet), but I am damn close. I <3 thrift stores, especially ones with lotsa cheap books. Yum.
On the OhayoCon: that sounds like win, too. I’m thinking of skipping the overnight, though, since it’s only an hour drive home, and I have the inhuman ability of being able to not fall asleep in a car, evar. It’d be so nice to hang out with OhayoCon. No alcohol, though, agreed?
We should hang out at Wright State some Friday. I won’t be there this Friday (my nieces are coming early Saturday, and I need sleep), but any of ‘em after that. We can figure things out via texting.
Sounds like a plan, missus!
Also, no fear on the alcohol front–I don’t drink anymore. Well, I tried a little while back but mah bellah gets all achy when I drink. Unless, apparently, it’s red rice wine… I digress, there’ll be no drank drunk.
And I’d love to come by some Friday! I wish I could come more often, but my dad and I started ourselves a little eBay business a coupla months ago, and it’s work work work most days from 6 to midnight. Give me a call or shoot me a text sometime and we’ll get that shit together <3
*goes to dollar store for holiday cards!*
